The September meeting of the Hertfordshire Infrastructure and Development Board (HIDB) marked a significant moment of renewal. Heading into a new season, we had a new venue, fresh faces among the members and a restructured Hertfordshire Growth Board executive team.
We kicked off the year by convening at a new venue – the stunning Sopwell House in St Albans. Deviating slightly from our usual workshop format, we were treated to a series of excellent speakers from Hertfordshire County, Hertsmere and Welwyn Hatfield Councils as well as from boutique planning law firm, Town Legal.
With record-breaking attendance, November’s HIDB meeting brought together members new and old – alongside representatives across all 11 of the county’s authorities – to discuss joined-up collaboration across private/public sectors.
At September’s meeting, members of the HIDB and representatives from all 11 of Hertfordshire’s constituent authorities joined together for an extended session.
At this meeting we took a deep dive into housing delivery challenges. We asked what Hertfordshire has to say about the recent announcements and we discussed the likely impact on business and communities.
November marked the first anniversary of the HIDB. In this session we asked what the development sector is doing to help alleviate the ongoing cost of living crisis in Hertfordshire.
In September we shone a spotlight on regeneration, looking at how we can deliver social, economic and environmental transformation in Hertfordshire.
In June we discussed how we can all operate more sustainably. We shared best practice about how we can forge a cleaner, greener path for Hertfordshire and we heard from experts at Hertfordshire County Council and Thakeham who are already blazing a trail in this respect.
At February’s meeting the smaller workshop sessions made for positive and meaningful engagement between the private and public sector partners on matters of resourcing.
